Rockwood Kennels is a full service Kennel. We train Pointing Breeds of all ages to help them obtain skills that are required to be a great hunting companion. We use low pressure and positive reinforcement training techniques whenever possible.I believe that a good dog, should be an enthusiastic dog that enjoys what it is doing. We train mainly for the upland bird hunter, and also for the NAVHDA testing programs and AKC Hunt tests. We also do obedience training for all breeds. The owners will also receive training on how to handle the dog to insure the dog understands and cooperates once the dog is home. The owners will also learn how to enforce commands that the dog already knows. This can be done with the dog staying at the kennel or can be done on a one on one basis here at the kennel for an hourly rate. Reservations are required.

Training and Handling for NAVHDA Natural Ability, Utility Preparatory Test and Utility Test as well as AKC Junior, Senior, and Master Hunt Test is available at Rockwood Kennels. We also do training for the family hunting companion be it upland or water work.

Training Disciplines include but are not limited to: Basic Obedience, Introduction to birds, Introduction to the gun, Introduction to water, E-Collar introduction, Whoa, Steadiness before the shot, Steadiness after the shot, Retrieving, Honoring/Backing, Water work, Tracking, and E-Collar training.

If your dog is weak or just needs help in any of these areas we will train your dog, and also train the handler to insure you get the most out of your dog. Whatever you and your dog may need, we can help.
